Your personal information is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles.

The Treasury is collecting your personal information to respond to your enquiry regarding the Investor Front Door. If you do not provide your personal information, we cannot respond to your enquiry.

We may also use your name and email to request or provide additional information or seek your feedback, in relation to the Investor Front Door. We may use generalised information about your enquiry for internal reporting on trends in correspondence received by the department.

We will collect:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details (email and phone number)
  • Your company
  • Your reasons for contacting the Investor Front Door
  • Your previous engagement with government agencies and regulators

We will also collect any other personal information that is included in your enquiry.

We’ll only use or share your personal information for the Investor Front Door, unless you agree otherwise, you’d reasonably expect it, or the law allows or requires it. Information may be shared with Treasury staff, contractors, Ministerial Offices, or relevant agencies.

Information may also be shared with third-party service providers that Treasury engages to assist with the Investor Front Door. We will ensure that appropriate protections of your personal information are in place with these third parties.

We will not disclose your personal information to overseas recipients.

Confidentiality

Information provided to the Investor Front Door, which you tell us is confidential, will only be disclosed by the Treasury on a need-to-know basis or where the disclosure is required or authorised by or under an Australian law, or court/tribunal order.

Any request for access under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 to the confidential information you provide will be determined in accordance with that Act, which has provisions designed to protect sensitive information given in confidence. The Act includes various exemptions for documents provided in confidence and personal information.

Any FOI application that relates to personal information or confidential information will be processed in accordance with these exemptions.
